Sweet Me Photography's FAQs
Sweet Me Photography sessions take place in the convenience of your home. Our photographers bring the studio to you, all in the comfort and cleanliness of your own home so you don’t have to take your newborn to an outside location.
Sweet Me Photography brings the entire newborn studio to your home! We bring all the props for your baby – including lighting, heating, outfits, hats, headbands, bowties, wraps, blankets, buckets, background). If you have a specific outfit and/or keepsake that you want to include in the session, we will absolutely do our best to include it as well.
Our sessions are usually between 2 to 2.5 hours to give us time to capture a wide range of different looks and poses of your new baby. There is no rush during your session. We plan enough time for your baby to be comfortable (and hopefully sleepy) since most of our poses are captured when your baby is asleep.
We are currently booking sessions in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Temecula, Kansas City, Des Moines, and Chicago.
We actually schedule sessions 7 days a week.
It’s never too early to book a session, especially when you have a due date that we can plan around. Most moms do schedule in their 2nd trimester. But we absolutely try our best to accommodate every baby, even for last minute sessions after baby has arrived.
The ideal time to photograph your newborn is between 5 and 14 days old. We can still photograph babies up to 6 weeks old, however it does become less likely we can capture all the poses you see in our gallery since the baby will be more alert and active. Preemies can typically be photographed a bit older than a full term baby. If you are unsure whether it’s too late to photograph your newborn, please send an inquiry on our contact link and we will get in touch. For boys, it is preferred to schedule the session before a circumcision or at least 48 hours after circumcision since babies may be irritable from the procedure.
In most cases, we are able to still schedule your newborn session as long as your baby is still within the successful timeframe for a newborn session.
Yes, we do photograph twins and triplets, and bring extra props to accommodate the babies. Our twin and triplet sessions includes a lead photographer and an assistant to ensure babies safety and to capture images of each twin individually and together. See our Packages page for details.
Select the “book now” link on our website and complete a short contact form so we can get in touch with you. We will reach out by next business day to find a date and time that works. We take a 50% deposit to hold your spot if your session is over 3 weeks out with the balance due after your baby arrives. If your session is under 3 weeks away, we do take full payment.
Absolutely. Once you receive your proofing gallery, you still have the option to upgrade to Package Two.
We always check in one week before your session date for an update on your baby’s arrival. If your baby arrives before we reach out, just contact us so we can pull your session up to an earlier date. Similarly, if your baby arrives late, we can push your session date out. We definitely want your session to be at the most ideal time as possible.
Once a session is booked, we reserve the photographer’s time and do not book her for other sessions. We can absolutely accommodate a need to change your session date when it’s due to the baby’s early or late arrival at no charge, but we cannot provide a refund on sessions that are booked and then cancelled entirely.
Our focus at Sweet Me Photography is capturing once in a lifetime artistic poses of your baby. However, we are happy to capture a couple of sibling and/or parent and family photos at no additional cost. We do recommend selecting Package Two if you plan to take a few family pictures so you have enough images in your final gallery to represent the larger variety.
Please see our Packages page for a full list of our newborn packages. Sweet Me Photography strongly believes in providing an affordable, transparent and convenient service for our clients. Therefore, we have simplified our packages to two options which both include the session and a selection of digital files. We also have a Twins package and Triplets package available.
After your baby arrives and before your session, we will send you a confirmation email with some tips on how to prepare for your session. Your photographer will bring everything you will need for your newborn session, so there really isn’t much you need to prepare.
Sweet Me Photography recruits professionally-trained newborn photographers. Each photographer has been selected based on her expertise and passion in newborn photography. Our photographers are local to a specific region and are all trained in photographing “Sweet Me Style”. A few days prior to your session, your scheduled photographer will call and introduce herself and answer any final pre-session questions.
We lightly retouch your baby’s images, primarily removing any scratches, red spots, bruising or blotchiness from the delivery while maintaining your baby’s character and natural beauty. If you have a special editing request for your baby, please inform your photographer so we can do our best to take care of it in our final editing.
We provide affordable and professional quality prints and canvases that can be ordered directly from your final gallery. This is completely optional since you own the digital files, but we do urge you to use a professional lab when you print your photos. You invested in a professional newborn session, and you will want any images you print to also represent the high quality portraits you have captured.
Sweet Me Photography is a leader in providing high quality and affordable in-home newborn photography. On occasion we can accommodate a baby “milestone” session in their first year. We do not photograph maternity sessions, but are happy to provide referrals.
