Our focus is your baby’s comfort and safety throughout the session. We aim to capture a variety of the poses and looks you see in our gallery. The following recommendations will help you prepare for your session.

For your baby’s comfort, your photographer may request for you to adjust your thermostat or close the vents in the area.

Handy items to have nearby:

  • Extra receiving blanket
  • Burp cloth
  • Fresh diaper and wipes
  • Pacifier, if you use one
  • Prepared bottle, if your baby is bottle feeding

Safety is a priority for all members of your family. If you have young children or pets, please keep them clear of the photographer’s equipment and work area.

Your photographer will bring many of the items needed for your session, including props, equipment and lighting. If possible, please provide 2-3 outfits for your baby (anything from a plain onesie to a formal outfit) and any special props you may have (your baby’s favorite stuffie, age/name plaque, blanket, etc.)

The amount of space needed for our portable newborn studio is approximately 7 x 8 feet. Your photographer will need to utilize a bed in the home to achieve certain poses.

We ask that someone be present in the room for the entire session to assist with the baby as needed. Your photographer may ask you to assist in holding the baby at certain times during the session. If at any time during the session you need to step away, please ensure someone you trust is available.

Your baby’s photo session includes sibling and parent photos. Family images can be a combination of casual lifestyle photos (such as on a bed, a couch, or in your nursery) and studio-style photos with a light or dark neutral backdrop we will provide for the session. If opting for lifestyle images, please remove any items or clutter that you do not want to appear in the images.

Planning your wardrobe

  • Choose similar styles and colors for continuity. For example, coordinate the whole family in one style, such as casual, dressy, etc., and focus on a complementary color palette. A cohesive family wardrobe ensures that no one person draws the focus of the image.
  • Select timeless basics, the tried and true pieces in your closet, to avoid your images appearing outdated in the future.
  • Wear clothing that makes you feel good! Begin with the family member with the most limited wardrobe options and style others to match.

Feel free to discuss preparation for your session with your photographer or reach out to us at any time.

Congratulations! We are looking forward to your baby session!
